It is very complicated, due to a lot of variables like size, tuners, resolution, PVR function and so on. But not to leave you hanging, this would be my recommendation: Panasonic TX-58EXW734.

just go into any store and buy something you can affored. At your price range all tvs from all makers are the same. Unless you want a 4k UHD tv, you don't need to be picky about "what is the best", Because the best is not in your price range.

I did a survey 12 mths ago and finally went with LG.. have 2 Samsungs and both inferior. Have not regretted my choice. Crisp colors and great sound..oled 55'

Then just get the LG OLED55B6D. But if you don't have Netflix + broadband Internet or 4K-Bluerays you won't really make use of the TV.

How can you define a budget when you don't know what you need? You can buy a perfectly good 60" TV, which is pretty large, with soundbar, for well under 1000
