Any one here who can share their experience in applying to get an Erlaubnis zum Daueraufenthalt-EG--i.e. EU residency permit? I am particularly interested in this "requirement" for the 660 hour integration course !! And suggestions of how to get out of this... Please do send me a personal note or post here as I've been here since 2011 and don't have time or resources to take this class and want to hear your experiences on this as well as what was asked or discussed when you submitted your applications please!! Thanks so much !

The only way I have heard to get out of taking this class is to have been living here long before it was a requirement. AKA: To be grandfathered in. But since you say you have only been here since 2011, I do not believe you qualify, thus as required to get the permit you must also take the class.

Here is the official link: www.bamf.de/EN/Migration/Arbeiten/Dauera...aufenthalt-node.html Where does it say that inyegration course as "a requirement"? In any case, each case is unique. You've to go to the foreigner's office to inquire.

I highly doubt Julia Curtis is a Refugee, thus the requirements may be totally different. And by the way, refugees are being given the required language/integration courses as well. The only different is that their classes are free/being paid by the government. Everyone's situation is different. Thus looking up what is valid for your own situation is the smartest option..

Perhaps you should learn more German. Then you would understand the name and purpose of the government department/website you posted about.. BAMF is the department for Immigrants and refugees.. Not people looking to move here from countries like the US.

I got a Niederlassungserlaubnis after having a Blue card. The course wasn't required.

You can study on your own and just take the test. I did it this way and did not do the integration course. There is a catalogue online of all the questions they could ask you.
