In the morning, we will arrive in Montreux where we will spend the next 9 hours. Montreux Riviera offers you a postcard landscape with lake Geneva, mountains and vineyards. In the heart of the Old Town, you have time to check out the Christmas market The Marché de Noël is by far the largest and best Christmas market to visit in the Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) region of Switzerland. You will have a chance to see the Weihnachtsmarkt, Santa’s workshop, a Christmas village, and a medieval festival. Don’t forget to see Santa Claus flying across the sky on his sleigh at 4 pm between the Lumberjack Village and the Place du Marché.
During the day, join us on a “Polar Express” to see Santa Claus (optional extra). You will travel to an altitude of 2032m, passing through many tunnels and crossing several bridges with wonderful views of Lake Geneva, the Alps, and Montreux. Once at the top, you will be able to meet the man himself, Santa and visit his workshop!
In the evening at approx. 7pm, we will meet back at the bus and check-in to our accommodation situated on the outskirts of Geneva.
Sunday 22nd December – Chamonix, Mont Blanc & Geneva
In the morning, we will travel through the Swiss countryside to Chamonix, and arrive at approx. 9.30am. Here, you can either spend time in France’s most iconic Alpine town or you can take a ride on a cable car up the Mont Blanc – Europe’s highest mountain! (optional extra). Enjoy free time at the top to explore the terraces, and take in panoramic views of the Chamonix Valley and the peaks beyond. On a clear day, you may even see the Matterhorn, the Swiss mountain made famous on packages of Toblerone chocolate. Since 21st December 2013, the more fearless will take A STEP INTO THE VOID, which is a glass room with a glass floor, situated off the uppermost terrace of the Aiguille du Midi at an altitude of 3842 meters. It claims to be “the highest attraction in Europe”.
After approx. 3 hours (plenty of time to go up and down the mountain), we board the bus and our next stop will be Geneva. The city is the second most populous in Switzerland as well as the most populous in Romandy, the French Speaking region of Switzerland. It is the world’s center of diplomacy and home to Red Cross Headquarters, a number of UN agencies as well as several other international organizations. After some time admiring this wonderful Swiss city, we will head back to our accommodation.
