Whoop whoop, after the awesomness of the camping at Koenigssee (see photos below), I have organised another one and, boy, that one is good…
A true medieval gem, Rothenburg ob der Tauber (meaning ‘above the Tauber River’) is a top tourist stop along the Romantic Road. With its web of cobbled lanes, higgledy-piggledy houses and towered walls, the town is fairy-tale Germany the hordes of Japanese and Korean tourists came to see. Urban conservation orders here are the strictest in Germany – and at times it feels like a medieval theme park – but all’s forgiven in the evenings, when the lamplight casts its spell long after the last tour buses have left.
Possibility to rent a space in a tent! (3 Euro)
Here is the plan:
_We meet up at Starbucks at Hauptbahnhof and buy a Bayern ticket together (not included in price).
_Then we go to the beautiful, medieval town of Rothenburg. The camping place is 2 bus stops away from the train station of Rothenburg.
_After having set up the tents (and ditched our stuff), we go and visit the town, stroll around the cobbled streets in search of the next interesting thing just around the corner.
_ Grilling time!
_ The next day, we get up and make our way over to the train station as the best thing of the trip awaits us.
_We make our way over to Teuchtlingen.
_We go KAYAKING! For those who cannot swim, you will get a swimming vest. The river where we will be doing it is the quietest river in Bavaria… The guys (and me) will explain how you can drive a kayak etc…
_For lunch, we stop at one of the many restaurants along the river (just to make sure, please bring some food as well as the restaurants are hard to find).
_We stop after a couple of hours and the guys from the canoeing shop pick us up and drives us back to Teuchtlingen.
_We go home.
